Jule Schultz, WATERKEEPER
Jule has worked on water quality and nonpoint pollution in the Spokane River watershed for Spokane Riverkeeper since 2014. Although born in Oklahoma, Jule moved to Anacortes, Washington when he was 12, where he began his lifelong love of the water and all things in it. He graduated with a B.A. in Biology from Lewis and Clark College and then went on to earn his Master’s degree in Marine Biology from the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Coos Bay, Oregon. Jule comes to the Spokane Riverkeeper by way of Olympia, where he helped regulate the shellfish industry for the State Department of Health. Jule is a board member and sits on the conservation committee of Spokane Falls Trout Unlimited. Jule is married to the always wonderful Katy Sheehan and has two very active sons.
As Waterkeeper, Jule manages our River Science, Outreach, River Clean Ups, and Native Fish Recovery programs, with a primary focus on developing community connections with the river.

Katelyn Scott, Water Protector
Katelyn (Katy) Scott was born and raised in the Spokane area, and has a life-long love for rivers and clean water. She went on her first canoe ride with her grandfather when she was just one year old, and fell in love with rafting at the age of 14. During law school, Katy spent her summers working as a whitewater rafting guide and kayak guide. Katy graduated from Wellpinit High School on the Spokane Indian Reservation, then obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Washington, with a minor in Law, Societies, and Justice. She went on to earn a J.D., with a certificate in Public Interest Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Prior to joining Spokane Riverkeeper, Katy worked in personal injury law, primarily serving plaintiff’s in Spokane County. In addition to working with Spokane Riverkeeper, Katy volunteers as a Washington Regional Coordinator for SheJumps and enjoys recreating in and around the area's mountains and rivers.
As Water Protector, Katy manages our Clean Water Defense and River Flow Protections (Water Conservation) programs, taking the lead on all things law and policy related.

Katherine Thompson, Managing director
Growing up in the Inland Northwest, Katie developed a love for the natural areas and waterways our region boasts from an early age. This inspiration, coupled with a freshman college course on nature and culture and a desire to see the world in different ways, led her to pursue a degree in Spanish and Environmental Studies from St. Olaf College. Some of Katie’s experience includes tour guiding in Glacier National Park, supporting salmon permit regulations in Bristol Bay, Alaska, community development and watershed protection in rural Panama and, healthcare operations management in Spokane. Most recently, Katie managed Global Education partnership development and international student recruitment efforts at the Community Colleges of Spokane. Katie enjoys, among other things, paddle boarding on the Spokane River with her husband and two children.
As Managing Director, Katie leads our Development program, including events, and internal business management processes.

Liv Kindl, River Cleanup & Outreach Lead
Liv is a Spokane native with a lifelong passion for being on and in the water. This passion has fostered a strong desire for her to clean and protect the water sources she loves to recreate in and on. Liv is an avid scuba diver, rafter, and paddler when she is not working to clean the river. She grew up exploring the wooded area near her home and going on camping adventures with family. Liv has two dogs that are just as excited about playing in the water as her named Maja and Beck. When not on the water she enjoys rock climbing, reading, and mountain biking. Liv has prior experience guiding trips for Eastern Washington University, managing equipment rentals and repairs at EWU, and working as a camp adventure guide in Sun Valley, Idaho.
